Project management Degree Apprenticeship (PMDA)
My course with the University of Portsmouth and construction company Inspire4Design really started on January 12th, 2021. the start of my course was during the disaster of COVID-19, I will not be talking about this a lot, but it is important to mention as the first year of my course has been carried out over zoom, making this the easiest option for me, an ascot boy studying at the ‘Uni of Ports’. The course for me worked out an 80/20 split. 80% of my working week I work, 20% I study on lectures or seminars. my day off for year one is Tuesday and time really has flown doing this. One thing to mention here is that I spend most Saturdays doing university work, and when I have no work to do it is best to find ways to get ahead of the curve – trust me it’s worth it.
Whilst my job title is junior project manager, I have only done little management tasks in what I would call subprojects now, so jumping into this title was interesting to me. I was still very far down the food chain at work when I started this course and although I had ‘Manager’ in my title, you best believe I was still being managed.
This whole site and blog have been started so I can give my honest opinions, thoughts and revelations to you guys and girls who are looking into degree apprenticeships. Although I am doing the course on project management, I feel that I can help in expanding the current knowledge on degree apprenticeships for the average Joe. Although this blog isn’t aimed at the average Joe; I really hope to help all students, workers or young entrepreneurs and guide them into what to do and what not to do if they come down this route, whilst showing them what this route of education really does entail.
